Former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu wrote a letter to the British High Commission in December 2021 requesting a kidney donation for his daughter.
This is according to a copy of a letter sent to the UK high commission that TheCable obtained on Thursday.
The former deputy senate president stated in the letter that he was writing to support a visa applicant who was scheduled for “medical investigations for a kidney donation to Ms Sonia Ekweremadu.”
He stated that the donor and his daughter would be at the Royal Free Hospital in London, and that he would “provide the necessary funding.”
“I have enclosed a statement of my bank account,” he added.
“Please do not hesitate to contact me if you require additional information. Please accept the assurances of my highest regards.”
The UK Metropolitan Police announced on Thursday that Ekweremadu and his wife had been charged with bringing a child to the UK for organ harvesting.
