Willie Obiano, the governor of Anambra State, led a demonstration on Monday against the Indigenous People of Biafra’s prolonged sit-at-home order.

Despite the fact that IPOB later suspended the order, residents reportedly continued to stay at home every Monday out of fear of being attacked by hoodlums.

The state administration carried out a protest to some streets in Awka, the state capital, on Monday to ensure the state’s return to business.

During the protest, the governor led members of his executive council to banks and markets in the state capital. The governor directed traders at Eke Awka market to open their doors.

He said, “The state must avoid giving urchins the chance to take over the helm of affairs. I chose to lead from the front to end this fear of molestation, harassment, intimidation.

Motivated by the governor’s decision, socioeconomic operations like as transportation, banking, and market activities began in earnest around 1 p.m. in the area.

On Sunday, Obiano threatened to close banks and punish market and motor-park leaders who dared to stay at home on Mondays or any other day announced by the Indigenous People of Biafra.

He instructed that all banks, markets, and parking lots in the state be open every Monday. He stated that the sit-at-home compliance had a negative impact on the state’s GDP and general economy, and that banks that failed to open on such days would be sealed for a week, and that if such banks refused to open thereafter, they would be permanently closed.

“If markets don’t open, I will sack the leadership of the market. If the market and park leaders don’t comply, their leadership will be changed within two weeks.”
