Send Repentant Boko Haram Members to Farms, Gen John Sura (Rtd) to FG.

Brigadier Gen. John Sura (retd.), former Chairman of Training and Operations at the Military Headquarters in Abuja, advised the Federal Government on Friday to deploy over 1,000 repentant Boko Haram militants to the farm.

He believes they should be used to develop agricultural items that they have robbed IDPs and other Nigerians of producing.

He stated this in a statement headlined ‘Treat repentant Boko Haram militants as prisoners of war.’

Sura, who referred to the repentant terrorists as prisoners of war, proposed that the Geneva Convention should be amended to provide them certain benefits, such as immunity from any act of violence.

He said, “In the case of repentant Boko Haram, they should be treated as persons in prison with hard labour to serve as deterrent.

“Imprisonment with hard labour which defines minimum condition for detentions such as accommodation, feeding, medical, food and clothing etc., should not be in consonant with the Geneva convention.

“I will therefore suggest that the BH repentant should be treated lower than the provisions given to the Internally Displaced Persons.

“They should be treated to bring true repentance and dignity to human life.

“They should be used to cultivate agricultural products that they deprived the IDPs and other Nigerians to produce.”
