According to a Daily Post report, the Aguata Local Government Area headquarters in Anambra State is currently being attacked by arsonists, who are thought to be “unknown gunmen” in the South-East.
Charles Chukwuma Soludo, the newly sworn-in Governor of the State, is from Aguata.
The attackers, who are believed to be the same people who attacked the council’s market, Eke Ekwulobia, set fire to the council headquarters on Thursday afternoon.
When contacted, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu said that “following the report of the fire incident at the local government headquarters, the command has deployed men to the area and the situation has been brought under control.”
Ikenga, the spokesman for the Anambra State Police Command, also stated that men from the Fire Service have been contacted and are already battling the blaze.
