Following widespread insecurity, the Katsina state government has closed 69 healthcare centers across the state.

Dr. Shamsudeen Yahaya, Executive Secretary of Katsina State Primary Health Care Agency (SPHA), disclosed this to journalists in the state on Tuesday, July 5.

Yahaya explained that bandits operating in the area completely destroyed two of these centers in Batsari local government.

“Most of the health facilities in the area have been taken over by the miscreants. The solar refrigerators provided in such facilities have been converted to use by the bandits.”he said

He also revealed that some health workers had been kidnapped, lamenting the growing demand for redeployment from workers in affected areas.

Concerning the state’s dilapidated health centers, Yahaya stated that the government had completed plans to renovate one health center in each of the 361 wards.

He expressed the state government’s commitment to ensuring the complete rehabilitation of health centers.

Meanwhile, due to the dilapidated nature of the Sha’iskawa clinic in the state’s Mani local government area, the clinic has been temporarily relocated to an Islamiyya School because the structure housing the clinic is on the verge of collapsing.
