Gunmen Abduct 14 Indian nationals in Ajaokuta LGA of Kogi state.
In Kogi, there may have been kidnappings involving 14 Indian nationals. Two Indians, two police officers, and two drivers were murdered during the attack on Friday, August 5, about 9 p.m., according to a report on Lindaikejisblog.
The gunmen attacked the expatriates while they were being led by the police to the ceramic company in the evening, according to Kogi police spokesperson William Ovye-Aya.
Before the attackers withdrew, according to Ovye-Aya, the Area Commander and a local military detachment needed to be reinforced.
In order to restore order in the area, Kogi Commissioner of Police CP Edward Egbuka, who went to the scene for an on-the-spot assessment, ordered the deployment of additional operational assets, including members of the Police Mobile Force, the Counter Terrorism Unit, the Quick Response Unit, and the State Intelligence Bureau.
During the attack on Friday, August 5, about 9 p.m., two Indians, two police officers, and two drivers perished.

The statement read;
“The CP is assuring the public that the Command is committed to working in synergy with other security agencies as well as patriotic stakeholders to make the State a safe and secure place for all and sundry.
“He has further asked the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to commence investigations into the unfortunate incident so as to unravel the remote and immediate cause of the attack with a view to bringing the perpetrators to book.”
