Alleged Notorious Kidnap Kingpin Lands In Police Net In Niger
Alhaji Bashiru Abdulahi, a guy suspected of being a serial killer and well-known kidnapper, has been apprehended.
He was apprehended by the Niger State Police Command in the Kontagora Local Government Area.
In a statement released on Saturday in Minna, the command’s public relations officer, Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the arrest.
Abiodun reported that the suspect, a native of Bangi town, the administrative center of Mariga LGA, was taken into custody by the police tactical squad assigned to Minna Area Command on July 14 at around 16:30 hours.

According to him, the suspect was detained at Kontagoro as he prepared to enlist armed individuals into his group.
Abiodun claims that during questioning, the suspect admitted that he had intended to kidnap the father of a former state commissioner as well as the previous chairman of Mariga’s local government council.

“The suspect claimed that the former chairman owed him about N5.8 million and that if the former chairman was kidnapped, he intended to realise N10 million as ransom from him.”
The command’s PRO said the suspect had also allegedly confessed that part of his plan was equally to kidnap the father of the former Commissioner whom he (suspect) owed about N1.3 million from a business transaction between them.
He said the suspect said he was expecting to get N15 million ransom from the plan.
“Further investigation revealed that sometimes in March, 2022, the said Alhaji Bashiru was suspected to have murdered his younger brother, one Alhaji Mamuda Abdullahi, of Bangi town, Mariga LGA.
“When the suspect was interrogated, he confessed to the act that he contributed money with his brother to the tune of N79 million for a business purpose.
“The suspect confessed that, while his late brother swindled him, he hit him with a stick on the head which resulted to his death.”
However, according to the PPRO, the suspect claimed to have told the family that bandits in Beri attacked and killed his brother.
He claimed that a search for more potential members of his gang was ongoing.
