Federal Government Colleges (FGCs) in the FCT are required by the Federal Ministry of Education to close immediately and evacuate all students.

According to reports, the directive was issued in response to a danger to the pupils’ safety, security, and well-being.

The request was made that the schools leave no later than Wednesday, July 27. Some schools requested that parents pick up their children on Monday, July 25, without fail, in messages issued to parents on Sunday, July 24.

Following unverified allegations of severe gunfire at the Federal Government College in Kwali, Abuja, on Sunday evening, parents hurried to the institution to ensure the security of their kids.

A parent named Chika, whose three children attend FGC Kwali, confirmed to Sun News that the school had sent home a message asking parents to take up their children by Monday noon.

She said: “We received message from the school about the latest development but no explanation was attached to the message. So, when we reach the school on Monday maybe, we would get more details on what led to the sudden decision.”
