When asked if his return to the APC was his final bus stop, Fani-Kayode responded that he could only talk for the time being and has no regrets about the change.
“If you ask all politicians this question, you will get the same answer; nobody knows tomorrow. I have my values and I will continue to work towards that.”
When questioned if switching sides has any financial implications, Fani-Kayode took exceptions and called it “insulting.”
“I find that very insulting whether it is coming from your or my critics, I am not the first person that would decamp to the APC, have you asked others this same question?”
When asked about his verbal attacks on Buhari since 2015, Fani-Kayode claimed ignorance of Buhari’s nature.
He said, “I spoke against Buhari from the outside, now I know him from the inside. I am not saying he is an angel or a demon. The APC I was taking about that time is not same today. Let’s focus on unity, peace and togetherness.“There is a time to condemn and criticise people. There is also a time to come together, work together to achieve unity.”
In response to a question concerning his remark that he would rather die than join the APC, the lawyer stated, “Joining the APC now is the way forward, regardless of what people believe.”
“APC is a liberal party. A lot has happened in APC over the years. The party has changed and President has accommodated the change. Had the APC leadership not changed I wouldn’t have joined them.
“I am doing the right thing based on conviction and understanding. This is the right decision for me, love me or hate me, it will not take anything away from me.”
