Southern Nigeria Governors To Meet in Enugu Thursday.
The governors of the federation’s 17 southern states will meet for the third time this year tomorrow in Enugu.
Remember that the governors met twice, the first time in Asaba, Delta State, and the second time in Lagos.
The governors set a September 1 deadline for all southern states to implement anti-open grazing legislation during the first meeting in Asaba, which was reinforced at the second meeting in Lagos on July 5.
The Vanguard news paper reports that the meeting will assess how far the states have progressed in developing an anti-grazing law.
Other reports also say that the governors would consider Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore’s recent threat to take by force lands in southern states that had approved a legislation prohibiting open grazing.

Meanwhile, Rotimi Akeredolu, chairman of the Southern Governors Forum, announced Wednesday that governors in the region would uphold the ban on open grazing and be willing to pay whatever the cost would be.
Akeredolu stated unequivocally that the governors will not back down on the ban on open grazing, insisting that they are prepared to face the consequences.
