The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will hold its national convention in February 2022.President Muhammadu Buhari was said to have approved of this.
Atiku Bagudu, the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and the Governor of Kebbi State, made the announcement on Monday in Abuja.
Following a meeting with the President at the Presidential Villa in the nation’s capital, he briefed State House correspondents.
Governor Bagudu was accompanied to the villa by Mai Mala Buni, the Chairman of the APC National Caretaker Committee and Governor of Yobe State, and Governor Abubakar Badaru of Jigawa State.
He told State House correspondents that the meeting was called to inform the President of the Progressive Governors Forum’s decision, which was made when the members met on Sunday night.
According to Bagudu, the governors agreed that the convention should take place in February 2022, and the same proposal was submitted to the President for approval.
He did, however, state that the leadership of that party has yet to decide on a specific date for its national convention.
The governor stated that the party would notify the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) while determining a timeline.
