Hamzat Lawal To Nigerian Youths; “Politics is not a Tea Party”

Hamzat Bala Lawal an anti-corruption activist has encouraged the youth to use their numbers to negotiate for political positions.

Hamzat who is also the Chief Executive of Connected Development (CODE), was a guest on channels Tv this morning where he made the statement. He suggested that political power is not a tea party, and as such, no one will hand over power to the youth until they take it democratically.

In his words “nobody will give you access to politics, politics is not a tea party nobody will hand you over power even if you’re young or old if you a woman or a person living with disability. You have to take it you know democratically”

The “follow the money” activist also made it clear that joining politics is different from contesting for political offices. He asked the youth to stop using the “we don’t have money” ideology to stay away from politics In his words “then again you don’t need money to join politics you only need money to run for office through the political process”.

Hamzat praised asked the youth to use political systems to get the leadership positions in the country. He stated that young people has made it to the top in various sectors of the country, and it’s time for them to to lead in politics.

in his words “young people are leading in every sector; When you go to agriculture, when you go to Civic technology when you go to innovation, look at what young people are doing in yaba, when you come to businesses the financial sector, fin technology, the Civic space young people are leading. But in politics in politics you hardly find young people who are not only leading but also sitting in those positions of decision”

” And the solution is simple the problem itself is a political problem, and the solution must start politically. And the solution must start politically.”
