Just days after two PDP members declared their intention to run for Nigeria’s presidency in 2023, Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has now joined a growing list of people aspiring to be president in 2023.
The Rivers governor made the announcement during a visit to Makurdi on Sunday, where he met with some delegates from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party.
During his declaration, Mr Wike stated that he has the courage and resources to depose the ruling All Progressives Congress at the polls.
His announcement comes just days after Aminu Tambuwal, Atiku Abubakar, and Peter Obi declared their interest in the main opposition party’s presidential ticket.
Mr Wike made the announcement as he launched attacks on some party members, including Raymond Dokpesi and Governor Godwin Obaseki.
Mr Wike accused politicians of failing to fund the party as he had done over the years, claiming to have more say within the party than many other members, particularly those who had left to join other parties at some point or who had recently joined the party.
Moreso, the governor further confirmed his decision to run on his verified Facebook page.
Recall that the former Governor of Anambra state had also declared his intention to run for presidency under the umbrella of PDP.
