“Sit-at-home Must Stop”- South East Governors
The South-East governors and other leaders in the states in the zone on Tuesday agreed to establish the region’s security outfit, Ebube-Agu, by the end of the year.
This was declared by the Igbo leaders in an eight-point communiqué published at the end of their meeting in Enugu, the capital of Enugu State, which Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano did not attend.
The conference, which was also attended by the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, traditional rulers, National Assembly leaders, pastors, and other notable figures, mandated the governors and other South East residents to do all within the law to guarantee that there is no more sit-at-home in the region.

The communiqué, delivered by the Chairman of the South-East Governors’ Forum and Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief David Umahi, decried the killings in the region and resolved to assist security forces in putting an end to the mayhem.
Parts of the Communique reads: “The meeting condemned the sit-at-home orders, which are mostly issued by our people in the Diaspora who do not feel the pains.
In view of the information that even IPOB had cancelled the sit-at-home, the meeting resolved that governors and all people of the South -East do everything within the law to ensure that there is no further sit-at-home in the South- East and that people are allowed to freely move about in the zone;
“The meeting agreed that the South- East Ebube Agu security outfit be launched in all the South-East states and laws passed in various South-East states before the end of 2021.”

Meanwhile, Anambra State Governor Obiano was not present and did not send a delegate.
