2021 MTV Awards; Wizkid Wins.

Beyoncé, Blue Ivy, SAINt JHN, and Nigeria’s Wizkid won Best Cinematography at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards with “Brown Skin Girl.”

However, in the Best R category, “Leave the Door Open” by Bruno Mars, Anderson.Paak, Silk Sonic, Aftermath Entertainment/Atlantic Records won, whereas Wizkid’s song was also nominated.

“Brown Skin Girl” competed in the Best R&B category against “Leave the Door Open,” “Go Crazy” by Chris Brown and Young Thug, “Heartbreak Anniversary” by Giveon, “Come Through” by H.E.R. ft. Chris Brown, and “Good Days” by SZA.

“Brown Skin Girl” by Malik H. Sayeed, Mohammed Atta Ahmed, Santiago Gonzalez, Ryan Helfant, and Billie Eilish, with cinematography by Benoit Soler, defeated Rob Witt in “Therefore I Am” by Malik H. Sayeed, Mohammed Atta Ahmed, Santiago Gonzalez, Ryan Helfant, and Billie Eilish, and Santiago Gonzalez in Foo Fighters’ “Shame Shame.”Other nominees for best cinematography include Elias Talbot in Justin Bieber ft. Chance’s “Holy.” Jeff Cronenweth in Lady Gaga’s “911,” and Andrew Stroud in Lorde’s “Solar Power.”

Beyonce collaborated with Wizkid and SAINt JHN on the 2019 single “Brown Skin Girl” for her 2019 soundtrack album, The Lion King: The Gift.Wizkid also received his first Grammy Award in March for this collaboration, as well as a position of #72 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2019.

He was the recipient of two Soul Train Music Awards, two BET Awards, and an NAACP Image Award.
