Google to Buy New Office Valued at $2.1b.

Google has revealed plans to purchase a New York City office building for $2.1 billion on Tuesday.

According to Real Capital Analytics, which was cited by the Wall Street Journal, this is the greatest real estate transaction in the United States for an office building since the beginning of Covid-19’s global growth.

Google already leases the Manhattan space, which is located on the site of a former railroad terminal in the Hudson Square district.

By mid-2023, the Silicon Valley behemoth plans to build a campus with a total surface area of 1.7 million square feet (160,000 square meters) that will serve as its New York headquarters for sales and partnerships.

The ultimate site will be divided among three buildings between Hudson and Washington Streets, with two of them now under construction.

The corporation, headquartered in Mountain View, California, has made previous multibillion-dollar investments in New York City, including a $2.4 billion acquisition of the Chelsea Market building.

“Google has been fortunate to call New York City home for more than 20 years, during which time we have grown to 12,000 employees,” said the group’s CFO Ruth Porat in a statement.
