Sir Alex Ferguson, the legendary Manchester United manager, is said to have stopped the club from firing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Fabrizio Romano, a transfer expert, revealed this in a Tweet on Tuesday morning.

According to him, key authorities at Old Trafford held an emergency meeting on Monday to discuss whether or not to fire Solskjaer.

During the discussions, Ferguson presented a case for Solskjaer to stay as the club prepares to travel to Tottenham Hotspur.
The meeting took place 24 hours after United was thrashed 5-0 at home by Liverpool in the Premier League.

Romano tweeted: “Manchester United internal talks. The main part of the board [Sir Alex Ferguson too] wants to give Solskjær another chance to be in charge of the Tottenham game.“Pressure still high around Ole. No official talks with Antonio Conte – but he’d accept the job in the next days too.”
