On deadline day, Antione Griezmann completed a shock loan move away from Barcelona, with the Catalans signing Dutch striker Luuk De Jong from Sevilla.

Griezmann will return to Atletico Madrid on loan for the time being, with the option to negotiate a permanent contract for a rumoured €40 million.

The France international scored 133 goals in 257 games for Atletico Madrid before leaving in 2019 after Barcelona met his £107 million buyout clause.

However, the 30-year-old only managed to win the Copa del Rey with Barcelona after scoring 35 goals in 102 games.

He is the 11th player to leave Barcelona’s financially troubled squad this summer, joining Lionel Messi.

Barcelona had to let go of their all-time leading scorer in order to comply with La Liga’s salary structure, and Messi joined Paris St-Germain.

Griezmann is Barcelona’s third transfer deadline day sell. Emerson Royal, a right-back, joined Tottenham for £25.8 million, while Ilaix Moriba, a teenage midfielder, joined RB Leipzig for £13.7 million.

Meanwhile, midfielder Saul Niguez has left the Spanish city for its English counterpart, joining Chelsea on a one-year loan with a €40 million buyout clause.

The 26-year-old was a vital component in Atletico Madrid’s La Liga victory last season, appearing in 33 games.

Chelsea had doubts about signing Saul, but they were able to work out a deal in which they paid a loan fee with the option to make the move permanent.

Sevilla had previously stated that they had turned down Chelsea’s “unsatisfactory” offer for France defender Jules Kounde.

“I am very excited to start this new challenge with Chelsea,” said Saul, who was previously linked to Manchester United.

“Blues fans, I am one of you now and I can’t wait to wear the shirt, start training and see all of you. See you soon!

“Saul has played 447 matches for Atletico and scored 53 goals.

Football Transfers 2021; Leicester City signs Ademola Lookman on loan.

Ademola Lookman, a winger from RB Leipzig, has joined Leicester City on a season-long loan.

Lookman, 23, joined Leipzig in 2019 after a loan spell with Everton.

He spent last season with Fulham, where he scored four goals in 35 appearances but couldn’t keep the club from relegation.

“It’s a great honour to be at such a big and amazing club with such a huge history and a quality group of players,” said Lookman.

“The facilities are incredible. It’s pretty mind-blowing and I just can’t wait to get to work here.”Former Charlton player Lookman was part of the England Under-20 squad that won the World Cup in 2017.

Football Transfer 2021; Everton sign former West Brom striker Salomon Rondon on a free transfer.

Salomon Rondon, a former Newcastle and West Brom striker, has joined Everton on a free transfer from Chinese club Dalian Professional.

The Venezuelan, 31, has agreed to terms with Goodison Park on a two-year contract.

His new club reunites him with Everton manager Rafael Benitez, who handled him at Newcastle and then again while he was a coach in China.

After allowing Moise Kean to return to Juventus on loan, he will provide attacking cover for Everton.

“Defending the colours of a club with a history as rich as Everton’s fills me with pride,” said Rondon.

“I can’t wait to pull on the shirt and be reunited with Rafa Benítez, a coach who has changed the way I understand the game. I’m really grateful for the faith he’s shown in me.”

Rondon, who spent last season on loan at CSKA Moscow, scored 28 goals in 120 appearances for West Brom from 2015 to 2018.During the 2018-19 season, the striker scored 12 goals in 33 games while on loan at Newcastle from Albion.

After wingers Andros Townsend and Demarai Gray, and goalkeepers Asmir Begovic and Andy Lonergan, he is Everton’s sixth acquisition of the transfer window.
