Many Feared Dead After a Gas explosion in Ladipo, Lagos.

Many residents are said to be dead after a gas explosion in Lagos on Ojekunle Street, Papa Ajao, near the popular automobile spare parts market, Ladipo.

According to reports, the explosion occurred around 8 a.m. on Tuesday, November 16.

Many dead victims have been evacuated from the scene, and many more are still trapped inside the explosion site.

According to reports from the scene, the explosion occurred at a gas station on Ojekunle Street in Ladipo, Mushin area of the state, killing three people.

Several people were injured in varying degrees as a result of the stampede, and properties were also destroyed.

According to the Vanguard, the incident occurred as traders were settling in for the day’s trade in an open space with makeshift structures serving as a beer parlour, mechanic workshop, spare parts sale, and a gas station.

As of the time of writing, the cause of the explosion had not been determined.

Mrs Margret Adeseye, Director of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, explained that the incident was reported at around 8.42 a.m. via the state emergency reporting platform.

According to her, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service responded quickly to the call by dispersing a mix of first and secondary responders.

She said: “Three male adults have been recovered as rescue and recovery operations continue in an environment isolated from causing any further secondary incident.“Preliminary investigations to establish the fact of the incident continue and further discovery will be made public”
