They were alleged to have outnumbered the cops, making it simpler to disarm the SP before killing him with his service weapon. After shooting the SP, the motorcyclists were believed to have attacked the police station and started fire, hitting some officers on duty.

Due to the severity of the violence, motorists and pedestrians, including store owners, were compelled to flee to safety, with the latter abandoning their merchandise.

Although the number of casualties was not immediately known, sources say that the police leadership sent reinforcements to the region, restoring provisional tranquility.

All commercial motorcyclists have gone into hiding, as expected, for fear of retaliation from the authorities for the death and injury of their colleagues.

When contacted, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, the state Police Public Relations Officer, promised to respond but had not done so as of press time.
