Man City Shows Character as they Rescued a point from the Liverpool

It was a trilling match at Anfield today as Manchester City came from behind twice to deny Liverpool a return to the top of the Premier League in a tense 2-2 draw on Sunday.

The first half ended in a barren draw but the second half was absolutely action packed.

Liverpool withstood a City storm in the first half and then delivered a performance to the English champions as Sadio Mane opened the scoring just before the hour mark.

Mohamed Salah looked to have won the game with a moment of individual brilliance as he jinked around four defenders before blasting past Ederson.

However, Kevin De Bruyne’s deflected shot off Joel Matip nine minutes from time salvaged the point that Pep Guardiola’s team deserved.

A split of the spoils keeps the title fight tense, with Liverpool a point behind leaders Chelsea and City two points down in third.

City’s situation might have been much worse, as a 0-0 draw at home to Southampton two weeks ago dropped them three points off the top of the table ahead of two of the Premier League’s most difficult away journeys.

Rather than being cut off from the championship contenders, they have set a precedent by educating Chelsea on their own turf and doing the same to Jurgen Klopp’s men throughout the most of a fascinating encounter.
