Chelsea Beaten at Home by Manchester City.

Chelsea lost today at Stamford bridge. Defending champions Manchester City defeated title them 1-0 at Stamford Bridge thanks to a goal by Gabriel Jesus in the 53rd minute.

The victory came as a welcome relief after City had lost their previous three encounters with Chelsea, most recently in the Champions League finals in May.

Chelsea was completely outplayed by Manchester City in the first half. After dominating the first half but failing to put returning Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy to the test, the visitors scored eight minutes into the second half on a badly deflected Jesus shot.

That spurred the game into life, with City missing two good chances and Romelu Lukaku having a goal ruled off, but Jesus’ strike proved decisive as top-flight champions City handed European champions Chelsea their first defeat of the season.

A popular Chelsea fan in Port Harcourt while trying to console other Chelsea fans around the world wrote.

“The blues take their first loss of the season.
Not a good performance today but no point dwelling on it.”

“I expected Tuchel to make the changes at half-time, but waited to go behind to change things up.”

“Big credit to Mendy today, a few brilliant saves keeping it at 1-0. Thiago was solid as usual. Loftus-Cheek looked great when he came on too!”.

“Tuchel needs to rewatch this match and iron out the mistakes, right the wrongs as we are facing Juventus in the Champions League. Another bid game for us. Full focus is mandatory.”
