APC Congress 2021; Ojelabi emerges chairman in Lagos State.

The activity was held in Lagos State in a “seamless and calm” environment.Mr Cornelius Ojelabi, a former Commissioner for Rural Development, was elected as state Chairman, while Mr Sunmi Odesanya was elected as party Secretary in a consensus arrangement.

The voice election was conducted at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, previously Onikann Stadium in Onikan, and 1,615 delegates took part.

Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos State, led other dignitaries at the event held in Abuja under the supervision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Electoral Committee members chosen by the APC’s National Caretaker Committee.

The Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, a lawmaker representing Lagos Central in the Senate, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Senator Olamilekan Adeola (Lagos West), Senator Rotimi Abiru (Lagos East), the Governor’s Chief of Staff, Mr Tayo Ayinde, the party’s immediate past caretaker chairman in Lagos, Hon. Tunde Balogun, all serving members of the national and state assemblies, chairmen of local.

The congress began at 11 a.m., following the opening remarks by Chief Adebayo Adelabu, chairman of the State’s Congress Electoral Committee, who guaranteed impartiality, fairness, and equity throughout the process.

The congress committee members used voice voting, requesting that card-carrying members propose each of the eligible aspirants for approval by the members. Ambassador Anthony Ogba, Secretary of the State Congress Committee, oversaw the exercise..
