MAZI Nnamdi Kanu; UK Seeks clarification About His Arrest and Detention.

Following the alleged “kidnapping” of the head of Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu in Kenya by the Department of State Service, DSS, the United Kingdom (UK) has requested that Nigeria clarify where and how the nonconformist chief Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who holds British citizenship was captured.

The Nigerian Government had claimed that NNAMDI KANU was Arrested and not abducted as alleged.

The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami(SAN), had made the disclosure in June 2021, in a statement released on his verified Facebook page. Malami revealed that Kanu was arrested and brought back to Nigeria.

A part of the statement read“Self-aclaimed leader of the proscribed secessionist Indegenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has been through the collaborative efforts of Nigerian intelligence and security services.”

The UK enquiry is coming as the family of the re-captured head of IPOB have asserted that President Muhamnadu Buhari’s unbalanced arrangements for his Fulani and Northern family is fuelling the reestablished fomentation for self determination in sections of the country.

Kanu’s attorney, Ifeanyi Ejiofor had claimed that his client was confined and abused in Kenya prior to being sent back to Nigeria. These allegations were made by him during a Live Tv program on Arise Tv.

Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has been agitating for secession of Biafra. He was on the run outside Nigeria for four  years following attack on his country home at Afra-Ukwu, in Abia State  by security forces until he was brought to court in Abuja on June 29 and told he would face trial.

“We are seeking clarification from the Nigerian government about the circumstances of the arrest and detention of Nnamdi Kanu,” said Tariq Ahmad, a junior minister at Britain’s Foreign Office.”

The Nigerian authorities have wouldn’t say where Kanu was captured, while Kenya’s minister to Nigeria has denied his nation was included.

Yet, reacting to an inquiry regarding Kanu’s case from an administrator, Ahmad said Britain had mentioned consular admittance to Kanu and stood prepared to give consular help.

A representative for Nigeria’s Department of State Service, the security organization that is holding Kanu, couldn’t promptly be gone after remark yesterday, a public occasion in Nigeria.

Kanu’s lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, alleged he was abducted by Kenya’s special police force and held for eight days before being handed over to Nigerian authorities.
