Man Arrested for defiling a 13-year-old in Lagos

Sunday Ukeme was detained by men from the Lagos State Police Command in the Akodo region of the state for allegedly defiling his neighbor’s 13-year-old daughter.

CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, the state Police Public Relations Officer, said in a statement on Sunday that Ukeme took advantage of the victim when her mother left her in the custody of his wife while she traveled for three weeks.

He claimed that when the victim’s mother returned from the journey, she informed her that Ukeme had reportedly defiled her.

Ukeme was apprehended when the victim’s mother reported the crime to Akodo Police Station.

Ajisebutu said, “A 32-year-old married man, Sunday Ukeme, has been arrested by detectives attached to the Akodo Police Division, Lagos State, for defiling a neighbour’s daughter.

The incident happened in Idaso town, Ibeju Lekki at about 10.30 pm on September 20, 2021, after the suspect’s wife left for a vigil in1 one of the churches in the neighbourhood.

“The victim’s mother had kept her in the custody of the suspect’s wife, Mary Sunday when she (victim’s mother) travelled out of the town for three weeks.

“According to the victim’s mother who reported the case at the police station, when she returned from the journey the victim reported to her that she was defiled by the suspect.”

Ajisebutu went on to say that the victim had been taken to the hospital for a medical examination, and that the case had been handed to the Gender Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, for further investigation.

The case has been transferred to the Gender Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti for diligent investigation and prosecution on the directive of the Commissioner of Police.
