Dr Rabe Nasir, the Katsina State Commissioner for Science and Technology, was assassinated by gunmen.Sanusi Buba, the Commissioner of Police in Katsina, confirmed the incident on Thursday.
“The unfortunate incident occurred last night,” said the CP.
According to the Punch Newspaper, Nasir was murdered on Wednesday night in his home in Katsina’s Fatima Shema Quarters.The Punch reports that the gunmen must have taken advantage of the commissioner:being alone to carry out the operation.
Around 7 p.m., sympathizers were also seen loitering around the residence, while security personnel barred people from entering the compound.
Nasir, 61, was a former member of the House of Representatives as well as an employee of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
During Masari’s first tenure, he was also a special adviser in charge of the same portfolio.
