According to the Federal Road Safety Corps, night travel is dangerous for motorists and commuters, especially since that most roads are in poor condition and insecurity is on the rise.

Solomon Agure, the FRSC Sector Commander in Kogi, made the claims in a statement issued on Monday in Lokoja.

Speeding, overloading, using a phone while driving, driving mechanically inadequate vehicles, failing to use a seat belt, and failing to wear a safety crash helmet, according to Agure, could not result in a nice road experience.

He asked drivers to obey traffic laws in order to avoid accidents.

According to him, drivers should avoid committing the aforementioned violations as well as other anti-safety vices.

He stated that the corps would be vigilant in enforcing strict adherence to traffic safety regulations and orders.

Agure stated that preparations had been taken for the start of the Ember Months and Operation Zero Tolerance to Road Traffic Campaign in Kogi in 2021.

He said that the campaign would be carried out under the theme: “Maintain Safe Speed, Avoid Night Travels And Enjoy Quality Road Experience”.

Agure stated that the corps would be visible on the roadways throughout the state from now until the middle of January 2022 in order to achieve the operation’s goals.

He stated that the leadership intended to deploy approximately 800 officers, 20 patrol vehicles, four ambulances, and big tow trucks for traffic management.

“It aims to ensure route lining, clear obstructions, and answer to distress calls for all to have the best possible road use experience during and after the period,” he explained.
