Dismissed Police Inspector Arrested Over N200,000 Fraud

John Terso, a 45-year-old former police inspector, was arrested by Edo State Police command operatives for alleged impersonation and fraud.

According to reports, the officer, who was fired from the force in 2019, had been posing as an Assistant Superintendent of Police.

He was accused of stealing N180,000 from Saliu Gideon Olauntoba and N20,000 from Gloria Aziengbe.

According to Kontongs Bello, the command’s spokesperson, Terso was posing as an ASP and an IRT tracker until his arrest on March 17.

Terso was enlisted into the force in the year 2000, trained at the Police College in Kaduna, and rose to the rank of Inspector before being dismissed from the force on February 13, 2019 for professional misconduct, according to Bello.

He stated that the suspect would be charged in court for impersonating another person and obtaining money under false pretenses.

While emphasizing the importance of vigilant patrol and targeted raids on criminal hideouts, he called for ongoing collaboration with relevant security stakeholders and the public.
