Bandits Release More Bethel Baptist Students, 11 Still in Captivity.

After 81 days in captivity, kidnappers have freed 10 of the remaining 21 abducted pupils from Bethel Baptist High School in Damishi, Kaduna.

Rev. Joseph Hayab, Chairman of the Kaduna State branch of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), claimed the ten students were released on Sunday afternoon and reunited with their parents.

Hayab expressed optimism that the remaining 11 pupils would be released soon.

In statement obtained by this This day Newspaper, Hayab was quoted to have said “Ten more students of Baptist High School were released this afternoon. We have 11 now with bandits.

“Thanking all Nigerians for their prayers and support. Trusting God that the rest will be released very soon,” .

Recall that criminal elements suspected to be bandits had on July 5 stormed the school, which is roughly six kilometers from Kaduna, and abducted 121 kids.

The bandits were releasing the students in batches.So far, 110 students have been released in four batches, including those who escaped from captivity.

The students’ parents were claimed to have paid more than N200 million in ransom to the kidnappers in exchange for their release.

According to reports, the bandits demanded and collected new money for each group of students freed.

Three individuals detained in connection with the kidnapping of the students were recently paraded by the Nigerian police Force Headquarters in Abuja.
