Suspected bandits invaded Sakajiki hamlet in Zamfara State’s Kauran Namoda Local Government Area, murdering twelve people.

A resident in the region reported that 19 shops and many houses were set on fire, as well as a police outpost and seven vehicles, including two police patrol vans.

The villagers assembled to hunt for more corpses, particularly those who had fled into the bush while the attack was still going on.

It was learned that the attack began around 9 p.m. on Thursday and lasted until 4 a.m. on Friday, during which time security personnel engaged the bandits in a shoot-out.

According to the source, the Police mobile operators attempted to repel the attack, but the criminals outnumbered them.

When contacted, Zamfara Police Command’s Public Relation Officer, SP Muhammad Shehu confirmed the incident but did not give any figure of casualties.

Shehu emphasized that the casualties may have been higher if police officers had not intervened. He guaranteed that the Commissioner of Police had already dispatched a re-enforcement squad.
